Bearnstow at Parker Pond – August 16 -22, 2020

August 16 – 22, 2020, I will once again be teaching an intensive workshop entitled Combining Disciplines for Creative Practice – a workshop exploring improvisational and somatic approaches to dance making- at Bearnstow on Parker Pond in Maine.

Each participant will create a solo with materials we engage with research with practices such as Body-Mind Centering (r) principles, Contact Improvisations, tunings of body and voice through exploring evolutionary and developmental movement patterns, our senses and perceptions, yoga, voice and theater.  We will work inside, outside, together and also have time to wander in personal ideas and the beautiful nature we will be surrounded by.

Bearnstow is a retreat away from other distractions deep in the woods on a wonderful lake – a camp that has been run (and still is)  by the singular and sensational Ruth Grauert since 1946.

This year’s workshop will be especially unique as the participants will be part of the making of a film by artist Tori Lancaster.

There really are not many, if any, places that are like Bearnstow anymore.   Please go to the web site for more information.
